The Palace of Dar El Bacha

Dar El Bacha, located at the entrance to the medina of Marrakesh, is considered one of the most beautiful palaces in the city. It was built at the beginning of the 20th century as the residence of Thami El Glaoui, appointed Pasha of Marrakesh by Sultan Moulay Youssef in 1912.

Dar Bacha - Musée des Confluences

In 2017, part of the palace was transformed into the « Musée des Confluences de Marrakech », an ideal destination for art and history lovers. Lovers of architecture will also be delighted to visit this building, where there are rooms with columns enriched with zellige and chiselled plasterwork, as well as other architectural elements such as star-shaped polygons, friezes with diamond-shaped or columns with carved capitals painted with natural pigments.

The interior decoration is also breathtaking, with handcrafted cedar doors, ceilings of different shapes and colors, exposed beams and joists or coffered beams with geometric and floral patterns. The « Musée des Confluences » regularly hosts quality exhibitions, including a new exhibition entitled "Foum Zguid, du Sel au Fil" presenting weavings made by women from the Foum Zguid region in southern Morocco, from 2 October to 10 January 2021.

The palace also has a stylish tea/coffee room, Bacha Coffee, offering a lively table of seasonal flavors, a wide collection of 100% Arabica coffees and a trip back in time to the early twentieth century. Its shop also sells the Bacha Coffee range of coffees and tableware. This magical place will take you back to the golden age of Marrakesh and Art Deco.
